Jane-Marie Ovanin creates objects for touch. Her forms stimulate and soothe, reducing the chaos of thoughts and emotions. Her objects bring tactile focus that heightens physical awareness, and then, just as quickly, let the mind wander. Coupled with Ovanin's intent to calm, she searches for simple smooth form, for an essence that is humble yet compelling. She chooses to use processes and materials that require continued and repetitive manipulating, instilling the objects with her satisfaction of creating. Ovanin aims to make forms that encourage handling and benefit those interacting.
